The 48th AGM of Schull Harbour Sailing Club took place on Tuesday December 30th. Commodore Jack Allan welcomed the large attendance and reported on a successful sailing season, with both an increase in membership and an additional two new boats joining the cruiser fleet..
Junior sailing captain Ronan Goggin reported of a very successful season with the juniors winning the inter club Marconi cup and the acquisition of additional Squib dinghies bringing the total fleet to six. With the new adult "Taste of Sailing" initiative also being mentioned as a great success when introduced during the Summer of 2025.
A long discussion was held lead by Club Vice Commodore John McGowan, of the possible future development of a multi-sports facility on the Schull pier area, with great discussion and debate in the room. Initial exploratory discussions are ongoing with other interested parties.
The meeting concluded with a very enjoyable presentation by Tom Newman, detailing his recent solo sailing trip to the Azores during the Summer of '25 on his Contessa 32 "Sittelle".
On the 31st of December, the annual Club Car Treasure Hunt went off with a bang, in pleasant dry weather. With 21 teams and families competing for the top prize! All funds raised are going to local causes, Schull Regatta and Schull Creates. Well done to Club Secretary Carmel O 'Regan and club member Frank Murphy for organising such a fun event.
