With over 70 confirmed entries for the Schull Harbour Hotel Sponsored 2025 Calves Week Regatta from August 5th-8th in West Cork, the event looks set to produce another competitive mix of Dublin and Cork boats, particularly in the White Sail division, which makes up nearly half the fleet.

The recently released Sailing Instructions (downloadable below) include extensive competitors' safety information and details of the proposed shadow ORC results for Classes Zero and One.

The SI document also confirms that the live feed from the Sherkin Island Met station will be used to determine the wind velocity factor for the ratings calculations.

In Class Zero, two new visitors to West Cork, Ken Burke's X4.3 Vixen, and Tim McCarthy and Wan Waterman's J111 Joyrider, will offer extra competition to Johnny Treanor's Valentina, the 2024 Cork Week Champion, who returns to Schull from Dun Laoghaire as well as Royal Irish regular, Rockabill VI (Paul O'Higgins).

In Class 1, Ronan Goggin's modified 1720 sportsboat will hope to continue his recent club race victories, while continuing his on-water battles with Tony O Brien's J 109 Tighey Boy

In Class 2, James Dwyer returns in the Half Tonner Swuzzlebubble to take on Norbert Reilly's J70 Ghost Raider and local boat Kevin Daly's J80 Jamara.

Class 3 will see the battle of the quarter tonners with the Kelleher-Garvey sailed Diamond in competition with Connor Phelan's Anchor Challenge and Peter Duggan's local Manzanita.

Rob O'Reilly returns in Bonjourno to defend his title in Class 4, with the two GK24s from Kinsale, Paul Cotter's Swift and Richard Hanley's Saoirse, providing the main competition.

An interesting addition and possible dark horse in this fleet is Darius Kryzevicius, sailing his club shamrock Taiscealai, from Dun Laoghaire.

With close to 30 white sail entries, the class bands have been adjusted, leaving Frank Caul's Prince of Tides as the lead contender in White Sail 1, while Kieran O Brien's Magnet leads an impressive WS 2 list.

A big highlight of the week will be the Quintas Capital crew party on the evening of Wednesday the 6th in Schull Harbour Hotel. Where crews will party the night away with fun food and frolics!

The race office based in the Schull Harbour Hotel opens on Monday afternoon, August 4th, ahead of that evening's sponsors' reception and the nightly presentation of prizes.
